The Superleggera chair by Gio Ponti for Cassina is indeed super light (1700 grams). Made of birch wood and rattan. Yet the construction is more than strong. The 699 Superleggera chair has been produced since 1957. This chair is the rare combination of the innovative quest of architect Gio Ponti and the groundbreaking experiments by Cassina. The Superleggera became the icon of Mid-century Modernism and artisanal elegance.
